Serdar received his Graduate Performance Diploma from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Classical Guitar in 2014 studying guitar with David Patterson. He completed Suzuki Guitar Book 1 Teacher Training in August 2013 with Andrea Cannon. He studied Music Theory in Istanbul Technical University MIAM Centre for Advanced Studies in Music and graduated in 2008 with a Master of Arts degree. Serdar also holds a bachelor degree in Computer Technology.

Serdar had a chance to study with many great musicians in the masterclasses he attended such as Carlo Domeniconi, Roland Dyens, David Russell, Hopkinson Smith, Aydin Esen, Ricardo Moyano, Thomas Müller-Pering, Dale Kavanagh, Eleftheria Kotzia, Lily Afshar. He also served as a group leader and member at the first classical guitar orchestra of Turkey, Collegium Cithara Istanbul from 1998 to 2002.

Serdar plays a 2013 Tobias Berg guitar.
